My name is Patrick Obah. I help women with asthma or allergy reduce their exposure to triggers so they can breathe freely without struggles and experience minimal or no asthma crises.
I also help them achieve a positive shift in mindset, keeping them in the right state of mind to overcome their asthma.
My Background
I’m an asthma survivor and a graduate of BSc. Biochemistry. I worked as a Client Engagement Officer in a Fintech company.
And now, I’m all about helping you win or overcome your fight against asthma.
My muse is activated, burning with excitement and the desire to help; it is ready to embark on this beautiful journey of helping people with allergic asthma.
Cos you’re the most important person in my world.
My Asthma Experience
As a kid, I never really understood what it felt like to breathe freely without pain and air restrictions.
I’d marvel at how kids my age could engage in fun-filled physical activities with their breathing unaffected.
I’d watch through the window as my friends played in the rain, wishing my mum would allow me to join them, even if it was only for a minute.
So I could experience the feeling that was making my friends scream so joyously.
But my parents would decline because they knew I’d catch a cold and most likely plummet into a full-blown asthma crisis if availed of such an opportunity.
Several times, I’d snuck out of the house. But, unfortunately, even though I did have a blast with my friends, it always ended in pain, as I’d return home with full-fledged asthma.
The aftermath is a boy who, over the years, has become introverted and afraid of social gatherings. It had a profound effect on my way of life.
Now a man, I’ve gotten so fond of the solitary lifestyle. And I’ve clung to it tightly as though my existence depended on it.
I thrive in seclusion. To me, solitude is golden. And sometimes, hell. Perhaps someday, I’ll write a blog about how I was able to fight and win this life-altering side effect.
Three of my eight siblings were asthmatic and constantly relied on Ventolin inhalers and several bronchodilators.
We got this breathing difficulty from our dad, who inherited it from his father.
However, we all survived it, except my grandpa, who was quite unfortunate to have lived in the village, where access to rescue inhalers was quite impossible at the time.
In one of his numerous crises, he experienced a violent asthma attack. We lost him with no access to an inhaler, primary health centres, and insufficient funds to take him to the city for treatment.
His lungs had gone tired of the constant battles for air.
The “puff puff” sound was a norm in our home. Our neighbours always wondered what the sound was.
And in 2018, my dad coughed from his sleep at about midnight. He struggled to breathe and took several puffs, but nothing happened.
With his eyes bulging out as he gasped for air, he walked straight to the balcony seeking fresh air. Within a few seconds, he slumped and died.
It was abrupt. No prior warning signs, as his breathing had been perfect that week.
Enough of the sad stuff!
Why My Blog?
With the experiences I’ve amassed battling asthma and watching my family go through the same, I believe I can be of excellent service to you.
It’d be of great value to share this with people going through the same health challenge.
Hence, my reason for creating this blog; is to share with you highly researched and well-tested products that can help you manage your asthma or allergy.
The key to managing your asthma or allergy is in your surroundings. Most of the triggers of allergic asthma are airborne.
To reduce your asthma crises to the barest minimum, you must pay keen attention to indoor air quality.
Your ability to identify, isolate and remove these triggers or allergens would go a long way in determining your level of comfortability and even your longevity.
Trust me, and I’ve been where you currently are. I know how it feels to struggle to breathe.
The constant wheezing, tight chest, nasal and chest congestion, itching of the throat, eyes and chest, and difficulty sleeping; seem to last for eternity.
A feeling more disheartening than any asthma or allergy symptom is explaining how you feel to people and seeing the expression of disbelief on their faces. Thinking you’re probably exaggerating your condition.
I’ve gone through everything, and I can boldly say I understand your feelings. As such, I’m here to help you pull through.
That’s my obsession!
If I can survive it, you can too.
These are not mere motivational words to get you all fired up but are what we must do to win this war.
War! yes, you heard me.
War against your triggers. A war against your allergy and asthma.
All you need to do is pay close attention to your air quality, where ever you are.
Take everything seriously, from the air in the living room to the tiny mould in your kitchen cabinet. Nothing is inconsequential.
I’ve not had an asthma attack for almost two decades. And my siblings only experience mild symptoms. Say once or twice a year.
I’m not in any way suggesting that there is a cure for asthma.
But with the proper measures in place in your homes, offices or any confinement you consider your space, you can manage your asthma.
Living an everyday happy life with minimal asthma episodes becomes normal.
Imagine laughing hard and playing with your kids without worrying about triggering your asthma.
Or sleeping in the same room with your furry friend because you’re confident of the measures you have put in place to combat any menace from this disease.
I’ve established this blog to publish highly researched posts or articles that provide information that’ll come in handy to you in your battle against this disease.
Together let’s do this!
